Refresh a linked Microsoft PowerPoint deck without building the links

Most teams have one or two people who build the links and many who open the file, press Refresh and send it. The Viewer seat is for the second group, and it costs about a seventh of an Automator.

€27.00 a month, billed annually, per user, or €39.00 a month billed monthly

In plain words

What a Viewer seat actually is.

Somebody in your team builds the report once: they open the deck and tie each figure, chart and table to the place its data comes from. That person needs an Automator seat. Everybody else who just needs this month's version of that deck needs a Viewer seat, and this is what one does.

1

You open the file

An ordinary PowerPoint file, sent to you the way any file is. The links your colleague built are already inside it.

2

You press Refresh

One button on the INSYNCR tab. Every bound figure, chart and table goes back to its source and comes back with today's number.

3

You read it, then send it

What you send is a normal PowerPoint or PDF. The person receiving it needs nothing installed to open it.

4

You never touch the wiring

A Viewer cannot build or change a connection, which is the point: there is no way to break the report by refreshing it.

The short version. An Automator seat is for the person who builds the report. A Viewer seat is for everyone who only needs it to be current. It costs about a seventh of an Automator because it does about a seventh of the work, and most teams need one or two of the first and several of the second.

Who it is for

Three situations this pack was priced for.

Best for

The colleague who sends the report

They need this month's numbers in it. They do not need to know how it is wired.

Best for

Account and partnership teams

One published story names exactly this: the analyst shares the dynamic file and the account team refreshes it without touching the connections.

Best for

Anyone who generates but does not design

A Viewer can run a generation from a template somebody else built.

What it does
  • Open a deck an Automator built, with its links intact
  • Refresh it, so the figures are current
  • Generate from it, one document per record, where the template does that
  • Use the grouping, filtering and formatting rules already in the template
What it reads
  • Reads whatever the Automator linked

Every source an Automator in your team has linked.

What it does not do

Where this pack stops.

Build or change a data connection

That is what an Automator seat is. Starter is the cheapest one.

Starter

Work on its own

A Viewer needs one Starter, Business or Professional license in the same team.

Price

€27.00 a month billed annually, or €39.00 a month billed monthly, per user (€324.00 billed once a year)

Per named user, and the license follows the person rather than the machine. Card through Stripe, invoice and wire transfer from ten licenses, purchase orders at any size.

FAQ

Questions about Viewer

Do we need a Viewer seat for everybody who reads the report?

No. Reading a finished PowerPoint file needs nothing. A Viewer seat is only for someone who wants to refresh or generate it themselves.

Is a Viewer limited to one deck?

No. It opens and refreshes any deck an Automator in the team has built.

What is the cheapest way to run a team of ten?

One Automator on the plan that matches your data source, and nine Viewer seats. The team calculator on the pricing page adds it up.
