UpSlide vs INSYNCR: the deck add in and the data link

What each is for, what each costs, what each lacks, and which one you need. Written from UpSlide's own published pages, dated.

The short answer

Both live inside Microsoft Office, and they are aimed at different halves of the problem. UpSlide is a broad productivity suite for finance teams, strongest on brand consistency and on linking Excel to PowerPoint. INSYNCR is narrower and goes deeper on one job: binding slides to any source, databases included, and generating one document per record from a single template.

What UpSlide is, in one sentence

A Microsoft 365 add in for finance and advisory teams: Excel to Microsoft PowerPoint and Word links, brand templates, a content library, waterfall and Marimekko charts, an AI consistency check and change tracking.

What it is used for

  • Linking Excel tables and charts into PowerPoint and Word
  • Brand template management and a library of approved slides, icons and disclaimers
  • Pitchbook production in banks and advisory firms
  • Consistency checks across numbers, narrative and formatting

Who typically runs it: investment banks, advisory and audit firms; teams with a brand function.

What it costs

Not published. Per user annual licensing with a minimum of 5 licenses, a setup fee, and no single user licenses; the price depends on license count, options and setup model. Available through the Microsoft Azure Marketplace (MACC).

What it lacks for a recurring report

  • Sources beyond the workbook: SQL Server, Salesforce, SharePoint lists, ODBC and OData feeds bound directly
  • One deck or one file per client, company or student from one template (Snapshot)
  • Rules by value on the slide
  • A Viewer seat for the people who only refresh
  • A single user or small team start: five licenses and a setup fee is the entry

Where UpSlide is better than INSYNCR

  • Brand and template governance, the library, disclaimers: this is what UpSlide is built for
  • Pitchbook workflow and change tracking
  • The consistency check between narrative and numbers

Which to pick

If your source is always one Excel workbook and your pain is brand and pitchbook speed, UpSlide. If the deck recurs from a system, needs one version per client, or has to be refreshed by people who did not build it, INSYNCR. Teams that have both keep UpSlide for the brand layer and bind the recurring decks with INSYNCR.

Fair play

FAQ

Questions people ask before they try it

Do both do Excel to PowerPoint links?

Yes. The difference is what sits behind the link: INSYNCR also binds databases and cloud apps, filters per record, applies rules by value and generates many decks from one template.

Can a two person team buy INSYNCR?

Yes. One Automator license is the minimum; UpSlide's published minimum is five licenses plus a setup fee.
