Quarter end takes a week, and the client wanted it Monday.

The data is final on Friday. The pack goes out the following Friday. The week in between is the rebuild, and the client reads a report that is a week older than it needs to be.

How it shows up

  • Reporting is a calendar event rather than a button
  • Clients on quarterly because monthly is not possible by hand
  • The analyst's best week of the quarter goes to formatting
  • Ad hoc requests wait behind the scheduled ones

Why it keeps happening

The rebuild is serial: export, tidy, paste, check, repeat per client. Its length is the number of clients times the number of slides, and nothing in the process gets faster the second time.

What fixes it

When the pack is bound, the second time is a Refresh. Teams that made the change report clients moving from quarterly to monthly, and reporting becoming something they sell rather than something they survive.

The test

If you cannot tell, for any number on any slide, which cell or query it came from, the deck is copied, not linked. Everything else follows from that.

One deck, one afternoon, with us on the call for the first file during the trial. The second deck is yours to do.
